Welcome to the Annunciation Church
Deus Providebit, God Provides
Father Placide Dobyns Council 1819, of the Knights of Columbus, has served Annunciation Parish for over 100 years. The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal organization and was founded in 1882 by Venerable Father Michael McGivney. While the Knights of Columbus are not affiliated with the Catholic Church we are made up of Catholic gentlemen who are forever devoted to our Church and our Supreme Pontiff. Our mission is to uphold the Catholic faith, protect the unborn, help the widow and orphaned, and do all we can for the unfortunate. Council 1819 has a rich history of helping our Parish, our school, and our community. Some of the many things we do are; Our annual Lenten fish dinners where we donate half the proceeds to Annunciation Catholic School, annual food drive during the Thanksgiving season, we have donated money to help the persecuted Christians in Iraq and Afghanistan, we purchased a special needs bicycle for a very special young man, we donate money and time to the elderly, we raise money for unwed mothers through our baby bottle campaign, we have donated coats for underprivileged kids, the Knights sponsor an annual scholarship and awards in the amount of $3000 to graduating seniors in our parish and we donate much more money and time to help anyone in need.
One of the most moving things we do is our annual memorial to the unborn during January and February located next to church. Small crosses are placed to remind the community of the millions of innocent lives lost to abortion. We are knights of the unborn! We support our local Pregnancy Center and sponsor an annual Family Day for the Respect Life Ministry at Annunciation. We have also donated a substantial amount of money to Rachel’s Vineyard, an organization that sponsors retreats for women and men who have had abortions and need healing.
Our council meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the KC room in the Dobyns Center. We begin with the rosary at 6:30. The meeting is at 7:00 followed by fellowship.
Men, if you are 18 years old or older, a practicing Catholic, and would life to help make our community a better place to live, we need you! All you have to do is contact a Knight of Columbus member (see our Officer's list below) and we will get you signed up OR go to http://www.KofC.org/JOINUS
